Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme date extended to 19 March from 28 February

The government announced on 15 April that the eligibility date for employees to receive support through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended to 19 March 2020.

The date for claims had previously been for staff employed on 28 February 2020.

The scheme enable employers to claim a grant covering 80% of the wages for a furloughed employee, subject to a cap of £2,500 a month. Employers can claim for furloughed employees that were employed and on their PAYE payroll on or before 19 March 2020.

The government have said the scheme should be fully operational week commencing 20 April 2020.
